After his performance at Norway’s RxR music festival, 50 Cent invited survivors of that country’s shooting massacre to a private after-party and performance. “We wanted to do something special for the victims of this horrible tragedy,” said a statement before the show, “and hope that everyone comes out to show their support.”

Proceeds from both the concert and 50 Cent’s after-party were donated to a Utøya Fund, set up to help repair the damage of the July 22nd tragedy. On that day, a gunman who had earlier in the day set off an explosive device at a Norwegian government building, killing 7 people, ventured to a nearby island housing a youth summer camp, and proceeded to shoot to death dozens of people, mainly teenagers.

The man alleged to have committed both atrocities, Anders Behring Breivik was apprehended and remains in custody awaiting trial.  He has been described as a Christian right-wing fanatic.

“I just wanted to say,” said 50 Cent, addressing the large crowd, many of them survivors of the incident, “I felt like if the music could have y’all have a good moment to get your minds off of some of the things you experienced, or what you’re going through, just for that moment it’ll feel good. And I see a lot of smiling faces, so I feel like I accomplished something. Thank you for coming out.”
